Support : Viruses
What are Viruses?
A virus is a piece of programming code usually disguised as something else that causes some unexpected and usually undesirable event. A virus is often designed so that it is automatically spread to other computer users. Viruses can be transmitted as attachments to an e-mail note, as downloads, or be present on a diskette or CD. The source of the e-mail note, downloaded file, or diskette you've received is often unaware of the virus. Lately viruses also piggyback off "worms" that spread through the internet by themselves automatically.

How can I protect myself?
You can install anti-virus programs to protect your computers and servers. The best value product we have used is Marketscore as it has both free virus protection and speeds up surfing, and eTrust EZ Antivirus (from Computer Associates) which is a quick download and very low on resources. A major bonus is that the same versions can be installed on all version of Microsoft Windows, including Home, Professional and Server editions. We run it on our own systems without any problem, and for servers the price they are unbeatable.
Other good products include Panda Antivirus , Kaspersky Anti-Virus , Norton AntiVirus and F-Secure Anti-Virus .
Free Scan for Viruses immediately
You can also scan for viruses online immediately for free from Tech24.com (partnered with Symantec). They offer virus scans, plus security risk scans and the ability to trace attackers.
Another online anti-virus service is offered by Trend Micro (but does not offer the security risk scan and attacker trace).
Note that the online scans are performed only when you request it, and viruses may enter your computer at any time. Therefore it is still best to install antivirus software for full and complete protection from viruses.
