Support : Log Files
What are log files?
Log Files are files that contain a record of certain activity, such as website activity. Every time a person visits your website, a log file is updated with the visitor's information. These log files can be downloaded and used to generate useful statistics, such as total number of visitors to your website, or the number of hits for a particular webpage.
How do I access my log files?
Log files are generated and updated constantly, and dumped in your "log" directory. Web Hosting clients can access their log files (if this is supported by your Web Hosting Plan) by using FTP to access their account and entering the "log" directory, and downloading the log files inside. Depending on how long your account has been active, and how many hits you receive at your website, there may only be one log file or there may be many. Older log files are compressed to save space in your account. Old log files will also be periodically deleted to save space.
Dedicated Server (Linux) clients will be able to find their log files in the "/var/log/" directory.
Downloading Log File Analyzer Software
To generate statistics on your own computer, there are two suggested software packages:
- OpenWebScope: Free, very good statistics package
- Webtrends: Commercial, many types of statistics generated

What about additional third-party logs/stats?
Rather than using your log files to assess the number of visitors to your website and other such statistics, you can use third-party webstats, such as from IndexTools.com . These companies may offer a different view of webstats than the ones we produce, and may include other features such as live tracking or affiliate tracking. Please refer to the webstat company for technical support questions regarding their service.
