Global Survey on Protection of Journalists' Sources 08/11/2007
Privacy International released a global survey on protection of journalists' sources in November 2007. Silencing Sources finds that over 100 nations have adopted laws but that the laws are being undermined in many countries by laws on national security, wiretapping and searches. Several important countries including the US, ireland and Canada have not adopted laws.

Privacy International and EPIC launch Privacy and Human Rights 2005 global study 02/11/2006
PI and the Electronic Privacy Information Center have launched the most comprehensive survey of policy and technology developments around the world. To highlight the trends and dangers, PI is also launching a ranking assessment of the state of privacy in a number of countries, showing the good, the bad, and the ugly states of privacy protection. The report was simultaneously launched at the UN's Internet Governance Forum in Athens and in London to coincide with the International Conference of Data Privacy Commissioners.

Freedom of Information Around the World 2006 Report 20/09/2006
Privacy International released the 2006 Freedom of Information and Access to Government Records Around the World report on 20 September 2006. The survey reviews FOI and other access laws and their implementation in 70 countries. The survey is now available in English and Russian. A global map of FOI laws, regulations, and pending bills is also available.

PI/Freedominfo.org Global Survey 2004: Freedom of Information and Access to Government Record Laws Around the World 13/05/2004
Privacy International and Freedominfo.org released the 2004 Freedom of Information and Access to Government Records Around the World report on 13 May 2004. The survey reviews FOI, state secrets, environmental, archives and other access laws and their implementation in 58 countries. It is available in English, Russian and Arabic A global map is also available.

PI & EPIC Privacy and Human Rights 2003 World Privacy Survey 11/09/2003
Privacy International and the Electronic Privacy Information Center released Privacy and Human Rights 2003 on 5 September. The report reviews the state of privacy in 55 countries around the world. Issues covered include data protection, surveillance, anti-terrorism efforts and new technologies.

Silenced: Censorship and Control of the Internet 10/09/2003
Silenced is an independent research initiative managed jointly by Privacy International and the GreenNet Educational Trust. The twelve-month project was undertaken through a collaboration of more than fifty experts and advocates throughout the world. The work was made possible by a grant from the Open Society Institute.

Privacy and Human Rights 2002 01/09/2002
The 2002 edition of Privacy and Human Rights examines the impact of government proposals after September 11, 2001 on privacy and civil liberties. The report documents many new anti-terrorism and security measures and identifies key trends including increased communications surveillance, weakening of data protection regimes, and increased profiling and identification of individuals.
